Triathlete & Founder of BikeFittr

I'm a triathlete and software engineer based in Cologne, Germany. I built BikeFittr because I kept running into the same problem: a professional bike fit costs $200–400, and most cyclists never get one. Meanwhile, the fundamentals of bike fitting — knee angles, saddle height, KOPS positioning — are well-understood sports science. The gap between knowledge and accessibility shouldn't be that wide.

Why Bike Fitting Matters to Me

When I started triathlon training, I dealt with knee pain that I couldn't shake. Turns out my saddle was 15mm too high — a common issue that a quick angle check would have caught. After getting a professional fit and seeing how straightforward the measurements actually are, I started wondering: why can't a camera and some computer vision do this?

That question became BikeFittr. The tool uses your smartphone camera and AI-powered pose detection to measure the angles that matter — knee extension, back angle, arm position — and gives you actionable recommendations based on established sports science. No appointment needed, no cost barrier.

How BikeFittr Works

BikeFittr analyzes your riding position using TensorFlow and MediaPipe pose detection. You take a photo or short video from the side, and the AI identifies your joint positions to calculate key angles. These are then compared against established ranges for your bike type and riding style — the same ranges a professional fitter would use.

The tool supports road bikes, mountain bikes, triathlon/TT bikes, city bikes, and trekking bikes, each with sport-science-backed angle targets. You can also adjust for your riding preference — from aerodynamic to comfort-focused.
